It seems Just Your Broker Inc. is expanding further into the clearance of live animals—and we couldn’t be more excited. One of our most recent and fascinating experiences has been with the importation of live corals. These are truly beautiful and delicate creatures, and handling their Customs clearance is a responsibility we don’t take lightly.

A client approached us with the task of clearing a live coral shipment, and we gladly accepted the challenge. As always, communication played a key role in building trust and keeping our client informed throughout the process.

Our first shipment with this importer took a bit longer than we would have liked, so we made it a point to streamline the process the second time around. We stayed more engaged, more responsive, and more proactive—because when you're dealing with live animals, every moment counts. The last thing anyone wants is for the product to perish in transit or during processing.

To ensure everything went smoothly, we focused on meeting all U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) requirements. That included filing the 48-hour advance notice and submitting the electronic declaration (eDec) on time. Upon arrival, we promptly alerted FWS, coordinated the delivery order, and ensured that the original Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) documentation was in hand and reviewed before the FWS office closed for lunch. Timing and coordination were everything—and we got it done.

Every shipment is a learning experience, and we’re proud to say that we’re now better equipped than ever to handle live coral imports, and more broadly, live animal commodities.
