Jeffery Daar - Senior Principal at Daar & Newman, Lawyers and Global Chamber Los Angeles Board Chair

Jeffery Daar is a principal of the law firm Daar & Newman in Los Angeles. He has more than 25 years of extensive experience in international litigation and arbitration disputes. Jeff also is a panelist for the American Arbitration Association as an arbitrator.

His diverse expertise includes strategic planning, complex state and federal litigation, innovative dispute resolution, and international transactions and disputes. While Jeff is a United States trained lawyer, he has close working relationships with lawyers throughout Europe, Latin America and Asia. This permits him to assemble international legal teams for innovative global solutions to business disputes and transactions.

Jeff is the immediate past Chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee of the California Lawyers Association, an officer of California Arbitration, and a Past Chair of both The State Bar of California International Law Section and the International Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Jeff has been appointed by three different Mayors of the City of Los Angeles as a City Commissioner. He is currently President of the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission, has served on the Board of Airport Commissioners for the Los Angeles World Airports, and was Chairperson of the Los Angeles Rent Adjustment Commission for 10 years.

Jermeale Lewis-Johnson - CEO & Founder at Just Your Broker Inc.

Jermeale serves as a Licensed Customs Broker at Just Your Broker Inc., a customs brokerage firm specializing in U.S. import/export customs clearance, with a primary focus on compliance, duty drawback, customs broker exams, and import/export training. Jermeale has contributed her compliance expertise to various customs brokerage firms. Noteworthy achievements include guidance on processing DEA shipments, navigating FDA compliance for wood charcoal tablets, and devising effective strategies for proper HTS declaration preventing a customs brokerage from losing a crucial freight forwarding partnership.

Jermeale’s skill set in customs clearance is diversified across various commodities, including plants, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, vehicles, dogs, and exotic foods such as caviar, octopus, and squid. During her tenure with a medical device importer, Jermeale specialized in enhanced HTS classification techniques, among other things. At an electric vehicle importer, she crafted SOPs for import compliance, and offered expertise on HTS misclassification. Beyond her role as a Licensed Customs Broker, Jermeale is a Certified Customs Specialist and an advocate for industry education. She actively trains for the Customs Broker Exam and provides import/export training. Currently, Jermeale holds the position of Partnership Co-Chair on the board of OWIT NY. Jermeale earned her bachelor’s degree from Farmingdale State College.

Anita also offers private pronunciation coaching, via Skype, for non-native English speakers who want to reduce their accents.
